8×10″ reliefs of The Suburbs and The City done on canvas with oil and wood veneer pieces.  These are highly textured and now are getting some new properties!

I am adding some color to my City and Suburb works… in a way that extends the mixed-media designation to a middle state, that state being digital sketching!    In the header here you see paint.net additions of color notes and texture changes that are merely “virtual.”  The actual physical canvases are in the process of being changed using the digital work as a “model.”

Another facet of this cross-media work is that what the digital play yields often spawns an original painting — abstract in nature by virtue of bits and bytes being skewed experimentally.

I have embraced photos and digital manipulation as a regular function inside my art studio.  Sometimes the physical art piece becomes the subject for a digital art piece.  That sort of work ends up as something I call “SPINOFFERY”..  as seen in the blank note cards have printed of certain variations that are colorful and attractive.  [see below]

THE END RESULT:   All and any of this ends up IN THE EYE of the viewer, and I consider it art in any stage in that it is the work of hands manipulating media and knowing when to freeze it as a discrete work.
